This apartment building is not in a safe area. It’s right next to the trolley station (which is a pro if you use it to go to San Diego state) but it is a con when living next to it. The trolley is loud and brings unsafe people around. There is not much security monitoring the premises. Some of the management is kind. However, when my roommate and I had roommate dilemma where our random roommate threw a party without telling us, a physical fight broke out in our living room, and the cops came to arrest someone in our living room, the union grantville management did not take it as serious as it should have been taken. The manager told us to “talk it out” with our random roommate and no consequences were going to be taken. It appeared as though the management cared more about getting our money, rather than safety itself. My roommate and I both left Union grantville and found other housing due to this lack of urgency within the management. The reason why I give it a two star is because the rooms themselves and amenities are pretty nice and new. As nice as it was, it was not worth the lack of safety to us. The leasing managers were the only ones who seemed understanding of our situation and tried their best to get us out. If I were you, I would look somewhere else and find different, safer, and cheaper housing!!!!!

I lived here for 1 month and it was not a pleasant experience. I moved out as soon as I possibly could. Last year I lived at “The Rive San Diego” and it’s like day and night with this place. The area here is terrible and as soon as you walk outside the building you are hit with a strong smell of urine. There’s a ton of homeless people around and a ton of car break ins. The residents refer to this place as “Ghettoville”. It’s not the complex’s fault, but the “premium price” does not match up. They make it seem really nice and from the outside it is. It’s a fairly new building, but don’t let that fool you it’s a nice place to live. They throw a bunch of give aways as at you if you sign a lease with them, but that’s just so they can fill their apartments. If they didn’t give away anything I don’t think anyone would live here. I was robbed from my apartment and nothing was done about it. The staff tried to put the blame on my roommate and I. I also found out many other people have had stuff been stolen as well. When I tried to email management about all of my concerns I was just ghosted. I wish I could get my money back for living at this place, I would not waste your money living here. There’s so many other apartment complex’s in the area that are nicer, safer, and cheaper. Especially if you’re a girl, do not live here.
