If you are sensitive to noise, I strongly recommend avoiding the first-floor units at BSL Apartments. I previously lived on the first floor. The building is very old, and the unit is quite small—more like a studio, even though it technically has a separate bedroom. Be mentally prepared: the bedroom will feel very “cozy.” The rent may be among the lowest around campus, which is one of its most notable advantages. However, there are several disadvantages: 1.Packages are delivered to a centralized pickup location at the leasing office, which is closed on weekends. If you order large items and do not have a car, it can be very difficult to move them from the office to BSL, especially since there are stairs along the way. 2.The sound insulation is extremely poor. I could hear almost everything my upstairs neighbor did—to the point where I could practically list their daily schedule. I felt like I was passively forced turned into a "monitor", which seriously affected both my sleep and mental health. Eventually, the apartment management allowed me to move out early, which was a reasonable resolution, though it came rather late.
