Here's the reality of this insipid dungheap. Since I've moved in I have been treated with utter disdain, disrespect, and neglect from the people in management. Get used to hearing "we can't help you because it's not our policy." It's their freakin' mantra. I'm not sure what the "policy" allows, but it doesn't involve treating you as a human being. The apartment came stock with holes in the floor, mold, and many scuffs; things would just break all the time -- the mold got so bad I had to throw away my queen-sized bed, I had to have my garbage disposal replaced, dishwasher fixed twice, and I had constant plumbing problems. In fact, when my toilet overflowed I was billed for the repairs. I called right away and they had me fill out a form, they came HOURS later and then sent me a bill. This was the first of many grievances.
After I lived there for over a year. I had my roommate leave to return to his home country of China. He had given a 30-day notice and didn't feel confident speaking to the office so he asked if I would call on his behalf (notice "call" because the office is NEVER open). I asked if he needed to sign anything else - they told me he was good to go. I had another friend take his place on the lease. THREE WEEKS later the office emails me asking what happened to my old roommate and that he needs to sign more paperwork. I was really worried they were going to use this to try and charge me in some way for violation of the lease (luckily they didn't), but they did insist that I give proof of income to them now that I'm getting a new roommate. Can you guess why? The policy. I lived there over a year and never once late on rent and I had to reapply and show proof of income. In the middle of a really hard term, I had to go through the leasing process as if I was moving into a place I had lived for over a year.
Now as I was moving out my new residence requested proof that I have a history of paying rent responsibly and on time. I asked management to provide this. No can do - policy. But what they did suggest is that they send my payment history. I agreed. I got an email later that day saying that they didn't have access to my pay history, and that I would need to have my new potential property manager call their corporate office. The number they provided was a fax number. And I wasn't moving to an apartment, but renting out a room in a house. They might as well of just handed me a can with string attached and said give this to person in charge of your new place. A FAX NUMBER?! REALLY?! It's not that hard to write an email! All she had to do was write "Yep he's never been late." or send me my pay history since, you know, I've been there two years at this point, but nope, I get a fax number.
After I moved, out of my $1800 deposit I received $300 back ($600 split with my roomate), to give you an example of how they charge - they took $200 just to replace and 8 volt battery in our smoke detector, and they wanted us to clean the outside of the windows (I lived on the second floor), I was charged for not complying with the death-defying feat.
I hesitate to use the term slum lords because that would be unfair to people who have actually dealt with real slum lords, BUT this is the worst living experience I've ever had. I don't care what you have to do - DO NOT MOVE HERE! Choose a rolled up newspaper, choose a nice muddy ditch, choose the fires of Mount Doom, but for the love of all that is good and pure, MOVE ANYWHERE BUT HERE! You will have policy put before you as a person, you will be treated with disrespected, and you will be charged for damages that come with the apartment, pushed aside when you need repairs, and overall just treated subhuman. I hope this review helps deter you from this awful place. I have never written a bad review in my life for anything, but if I can prevent anyone from the suffering that comes with this place then writing this was worth it.
