Wow! Where do I even begin with the Jack?! 😱 The apartments are top notch, the staff is friendly, lobby/elevators are always clean, great amenities, etc. I wish I could spend the rest of my life at the Jack. As a guest of the Jack, I always feel welcomed. This is the best apartment complex I have ever been in (as someone who has been in thousands ☺️☺️☺️). Great job to the Jack staff/maintenance , keep up the great work 👏!!!!!!! Also, how could I forget about the best parking arrangement the Jack has to offer?! How smart with the tandem parking 🚗🚙

Do not live here, the amount you’d be paying would be better off towards a studio. While the staff is nice, the way things are handled in general is not accommodating, especially when the place is catered towards college students.
- it took them 6 months + for them to finally do something about our fridge
- when I moved in, the place was unacceptably dirty and my apartment came with a stove where some of the burners don’t even work
- the place overall is dirty, except for the lobby and the 2nd floor where guests and future residence will see, especially when all the amenities are on the second floor + the model.
- lack of communication. When they gave me the tour and I signed my lease, I was told that they would accept money orders as a form of payment. It was also written in the lease at the time. For my first month’s rent, I went and paid w/ my money order for them to tell me right before the office closed that they were no longer accepting them. There were no phone calls or an email notifying the change. I did not have a car at the time, so it took me about 1 hour and a half to walk to my bank to deposit the money order and then make an online payment. The online payment initially has a $20 processing fee which I was SUPER EXCITED to pay.
- people do not clean after their pets or themselves (vomit, trash, urine). I’m currently paying $1100 to live in a pigsty essentially.
- we are also being charged for a gas fire pit which doesn’t even turn on
- printer does not work
- they did not communicate anything about USPS being late when it came time to mail in voting ballots. They didn’t post a sign about it until the day AFTER those were due.
- they will also ask you to move your car from your parking that cost $55 a month during move-in. This can be extremely inconvenient because you will need to pay for parking if you still want to park close to the Jack. Your other option would be to pay for parking on campus as well. This process took up to 2 days from 8 am to 4 pm and I had to wait on a random person after 4 to move their car in order to park mine in my spot that I paid for.
- the gate for the garage is also broken, so essentially anyone can walk into the complex w/o a key or a garage pass. This can be dangerous for the tenants and their cars.
- the elevators are also broken. They have a sign saying that someone will come to fix it. It’s been over 4 months. This can impact those who are handicapped and need access to the elevators.
- many of the amenities don’t work either and we’re paying almost $1000 each month, which is a waste because I could be using that money towards books, food, and other school expenses. A good example of this is that the hot tubs aren’t exactly hot. They’re not heated and the jets don’t work.
- Office closures: they tend to reduce their hours for when the office is open. So if you have class/work from 8-6pm you’re SOL if you need to contact someone or pick up a package.
-Speaking of packages…. Since the office isn’t open all the time, Amazon, UPS, or USPS will leave your packages out in the open at the front desk- so ANYONE can just grab them :)
- the hot water tends to go out along with frequent fire alarms as well

You could not make me live here again
Base rent starts somewhere around 1100$. Utilities can get as high as 100$ a month.
Pet rent 300 nonrefundable deposit and 30$ a month. (Same for all animals)
Parking is 50-80$ a month for tandem/single space and the garage isn’t even really covered so when it snows you’ll still have snow on your car. You can park parallel to the building for 8$ a day or test your luck in the neighborhood free 2 hour parking. NAU offers the P1D lot beside the jack for 700$ a year.
Upon move in, the paint doesn’t match previous paint colors (This was done by maintenance, not a previous resident). Our couch was shredded and they had no intentions on replacing it. We had to beg for a replacement couch and it took 5 months. Maintenance left a bunch of random things in our apartment for us to find during move in. Vinyl flooring lifting up in multiple areas with no intention of being replaced.
Front office doesn’t have bins available for move in or move out: Bring a wagon
Cleaning crew before move in clorox wipes the apartment. It isn’t a professional deep clean. It took me 6 fresh mop buckets before the water wasn’t fully black from the grime in the apartment.
The walls are extremely thin. To the point where you can hear someone in their room with a closed door on the phone in your room with the door closed.
Garbage disposal was “fixed” multiple times but doesn’t seem to work.
The elevators are a horror game. I’ve been stuck in them twice for over an hour. The buttons never work. During move out I had to leave my stuff on my floor and run down the next floor to bring the elevator to my floor. For how much rent is here the elevators should be fixed within an hour of them not working.
The gym is a JOKE. Insanely small room. Maybe 25feet by 25feet if that. No stairmaster. 2 smith machines. Zero room for putting a yoga mat and stretching or doing core.
Water heater broke twice while I was living here.
Never really had an issue with wifi or any appliances but I probably got lucky
The people in this apartment with dogs need to realize what they are doing is inhumane. I would walk in the hallways to feces on the carpet. Luckily maintenance cleans the carpets once a week.
Everyone I know that lives here has had at least one bad roommate. There is no reason for your child’s roommates to be parenting your kid. It isn’t rocket science to clean up the communal kitchen after using it or being respectful when having guests over. Student apartment = students live here and people study at home. The jack allows a guest for 3 consecutive days for 9 days total in a month. Follow the lease but also talk to your roommates!
All photos attached are from the day I moved in.

DON NOT LET YOUR STUDENT MOVE HERE!! Don’t be fooled by the professional photos taken when the complex was first built. I was there today- my daughter moved in Monday. She insisted on moving there because her friends were there so I trusted her “ adult” decision. She paid rent as of Aug 1 but was not allowed to move in until Aug 18.what???? So there is no loading area for move in, no guest parking. The elevators are basically nonexistent as it is an 8 min walk to the elevator bank from her apt. One elevator bank for that sprawling triangular complex! You are stuck using the exterior fire stairs which are not safe and filthy. Very few stairwells available. Bare minimum to meet code. The hallways are dimly lit and filthy- ground in vomit on the carpet in the first week . Nice.
NOW FOR THE APT- very small rooms. APT NOT CLEANED PRIOR TO HER MOVE IN! How is this acceptable or professional? I have never heard of this ever!! Floors filthy, bathroom filthy/mold/pubic hair everywhere. No medicine cabinet in the wall, 1 towel bar, small vanity for 2 tenants. Kitchen filthy- food crymbs and residue in cabinets, fridge filthy, dirt everywhere, ceiling fans caked in dust. Cat hair and food residue in drawers and throughout the bedrooms. Walls filthy, doors filthy. DISGUSTING. .
No staff available on weekends to assist with move in issues.
The paid parking in the courtyard/ garage is exorbitant and limited. The option given to my daughter was an uncovered/ unsecured spot 10 minutes from the complex. Still expensive and dangerous to boot.
What a joke!!

Does anyone even work here? Emailed about issues several times and trying to get help with roommates and I don’t even get acknowledged. Do better. Won’t be recommending this place to any friends or family going forward. This place is hell.
