Like others have pointed out, I'm confused as to where all of the positive reviews from a year ago came from when we weren't even able to move in until late September.
I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. The problems began before we even moved in-- me and all of my roommates were trying to get updated on the status of the building through texts, emails and voicemails, and were ghosted for a straight month. It wasn't until two days before the scheduled move-in date that we were told it would be delayed by a week. Then it was two weeks, then three, and finally we were given a day's notice that it was open to move in.
Ever since moving in, the building has been plagued with problems. The elevator breaks at least once a week, and the parking garage (which costs almost $250/month) breaks even more often than that. I've had to pay for my own rideshares when it's broken for hours at a time and they refused to compensate or take any responsibility. fire alarms are always going off for no reason, my friends' apartments have FLOODED numerous times, and the after-hours emergency maintenance isn't even guaranteed to pick up. Speaking of maintenance, they're cool people, but it's clear that they don't know what they're doing. When our fire alarms were going off all day, all they did was replace the batteries on one of them, which unsurprisingly didn't fix the problem. It took several more hours of the alarms going off to finally convince him to come back and fix it. The apartments are supposed to be fully furnished, but when I moved in my desk was so wobbly that I couldn't use it for anything. When I put in a maintenance request, all they did was duct tape it to the floor. I ended up having to dismantle and rebuild it myself because they refused to help further.
The security is also terrible. Some new guy is constantly staring at everyone who walks in and aggressively asking "DO YOU LIVE HERE?!" making you feel unwelcome in the building that you already pay way too much to survive in.
One of the main attractions of this place is the amenities, but even those are constantly broken. To use another example besides the parking garage, they installed a coffee machine in the clubroom, which sounds nice, but half the time the machine is broken and the other half the lock on the door is broken so you can't even get in. I'm confused as to how the key fobs are already malfunctioning, seeing how they just installed them for the building 6 months into the lease.
Besides all of the above, the rooms are much smaller than advertised, and everything just sucks in general. I could go on but this is already way longer than it should be.
I really wish I could rate this building less than 1 star. I hope anyone looking for a new place to live next year will consider moving somewhere else, because living here will just about ruin your Westwood experience.

I stopped by the UCLA housing fair to check out possible housing situations for my senior year at UCLA and I loved the Mark LA’s booth! I spoke to Alyssa and Isabella and felt like everything was so interactive and informational. Their merch is also so so cute. Thank you Mark LA team!

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE POSITIVE REVIEWS!!! They're from before the building even finished construction and well before anyone actually moved in. It looks like the management changed the address of an old location so that this one would keep the positive reviews, which is so scummy and reflects how your experience at this building will be. Look at Yelp for a better idea of what the actual experience is like.
They will NOT give you the room you signed for on the lease-- I signed for a private bedroom with an attached bathroom, and was given a room that was so much smaller than was advertised without an attached bathroom. I'm a skinny dude and I literally have to walk sideways to get between my bed and desk, but they somehow still charge me the rate for a bigger room with an attached bathroom. They advertise that they will "elevate student living" or whatever, but I promise that your entire year will be filled with so much more stress and inconvenience that you could easily avoid by living somewhere else.
They somehow have one elevator for a 7-floor building that is constantly broken. The parking garage is some platform system where it's supposed to bring your car up for you, but it takes forever and literally breaks at least once per week. I've spent well over $200 on Ubers at this point just to get to work, and if you bring this up they basically tell you to kick rocks. A parking spot costs $230/month on top of the insanely expensive price you already pay to live in what's basically Harry Potter's closet under the staircase.
Westwood is an amazing area with so many nice apartments where you will actually get what you pay for. Don't ruin your experience by giving your money to these scammers.
UPDATE: Don't be fooled by their ChatGPT-generated response to this review either, I've brought these problems up all year and they've done nothing about it. They do not care about you as long as they have your money.
Update 2-- this isn't showing up on the reviews for whatever reason?

To begin with, I’m confused about how there are so many positive reviews from six months ago when the apartment was barely finished and not even livable five months ago.
Honestly, this apartment is not worth the price, which was apparently lower than they intended, because they are now raising rents 40%–60% from an already high price. Maybe because they had to give many of the residents gift cards as reimbursement for not having the apartments ready by the scheduled move-in date. Other than that, the walls are thin, the appliances and cabinets seem to be breaking constantly, and the installed furniture is low quality. One of the bathrooms in my apartment does not have cabinets underneath the sink, and when asked why, I was told it was because the bathroom needed to be “accessible,” which doesn't make sense considering the elevator breaks every other day. There are also other parts of the bathroom design that don't align with that reason, but there are other things to get into. Alongside the elevator breaking frequently, most of the amenities still not fully working. I get emails saying this 'high-tech' parking lot, which looks similar to a vending machine, is constantly broken or stuck, which sucks for the people who are paying an extra 300$ to park their car there and can't even use it. The trash chutes, which we are paying for, aren't even operating yet, even though we have lived here for around 5 months now, and residents have to pay a fee if they leave any trash there. The gym has machines that aren't operating yet, the study lounge is fine, it seems like there are sections in there that aren't finished yet, and they lost interest in finishing it since they need their attention in other areas as well. The Mark would be a nice place to live if utilities were actually working and if the management was doing something about these impending problems, etc., but they're too busy creating TikToks/Insta reels and having giveaways to really care about any of this.
Also, other than the base amount of rent, you have to pay for your own wifi (since most of the apartment is in a dead zone), utilities, parking if you want a spot here, any animals you want to keep here, etc...
*PS don't know why this is censored and not showing up on the reviews when all I'm saying is my experience here

Honestly, I would not recommend this apartment building. First off, keep in mind that the apartment was only ready to live in in September and there are reviews from a year ago?
The amenities are constantly broken. They don't care at all about their clients, they're only concerned about future tenants.
Today, someone from maintenance literally walked in our apartment while no one was home. They did not notify us that someone would enter our unit and we are 5 girls living in there and honestly it felt so uncomfortable to get home and have a man in our apartment looking around!!
