About Off-Campus Housing Near Ohio Dominican University
Ohio Dominican University is a small private Catholic university located in the Beechwold neighborhood of northeast Columbus, Ohio. Founded in 1911 by the Dominican Sisters of Peace, ODU enrolls approximately 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students and offers degrees across the liberal arts, business, education, and the sciences. The campus on Sunbury Road sits in a residential area of northeast Columbus, providing students with access to the amenities of a major city while studying in a close-knit academic community. Ohio Dominican University Housing Requirements
Freshman Live-On Requirement
Ohio Dominican University does not impose a blanket mandatory live-on requirement for all first-year students. Incoming students are encouraged to consider on-campus housing for the social and academic benefits it provides, and a portion of residence hall space is reserved for freshmen. Students who choose to live off campus as freshmen are not subject to a formal university penalty, though they are encouraged to speak with a housing advisor before making that decision.
Off-Campus Eligibility
All Ohio Dominican students are eligible to seek off-campus housing in Columbus regardless of class standing or credit hours. The surrounding northeast Columbus neighborhoods offer a wide variety of apartment and house rental options at varying price points. Because ODU is a smaller institution embedded in a large city, many students choose to live off campus from their very first year.
