The place is comfortable with a tv and couch lobby. The managers are fun to chat with. It’s definitely a safer location than mid-downtown Portland!

Dreadful place to end up. Property Manager is horrible. Everytime I've asked for his help he has been worthless several times demeaning, patronizing , and rude. He tried to tell me noises being made in the middle of the night by rude upstairs tenants weren't coming from them but somewhere else in the building after telling me I was delusional. I can't count the number of nights I havent been able to sleep because of rude tenants and cheap building design even with several white noise elements being run in the background.
I'm including a picture of the garbage area that was overflowing at one point so badly you couldn't even open the door to dispose of your trash.
Beware the reviews, the Property Manager sometimes offers raffle prizes for tenants leaving reviews ... good reviews.
This place has zero insulation. You'll hear every sound from outside and every neighbor from top, bottom, and hallways that makes a sound.
Furniture is cheap and flimsy. My last load of laundry to wash and dry took 5 hours.
A yearly lease doesn't roll over to a month to month like Portland city housing code states it should. Instead he'll rent your room right out from under you. What up Portland?
I could list more but this gives you an idea of why this is a last resort.

"Just gotta say, I love the location here at MW8. The building always seems clean and well maintained, and I love its modern design. I moved here recently from the East Coast with no car, which doesn't seem a hardship; I have my own washer and dryer in the unit and close proximity to great food options, including plenty of restaurants and food trucks." The staff seems really nice and have always been prompt with any issues I have; actually, I haven't had many issues.
There was a problem with the faucet/shower head, specifically when activating the faucet to have water come out: low pressure and/or no water came out of the shower head. I called the office, talked with Dustin, and he had the maintenance guy, Manuel (not sure if I have the name right), checking out my bathroom within an hour.
Anyways, they had to replace the faucet part of my shower. After Manuel left to get a replacement part, he was back a couple of hours later and had my shower working better than ever, all within the same afternoon.
Thanks,
Benjamin

My son has been studying at PCU since 2023, and when he first moved to Portland, I was worried about where he would live. Fortunately, once we arrived at MN8 Apartments, everything changed. The manager, Dastin, was incredibly kind and helpful. He made the process simple and found a room that suited my son’s needs perfectly.
Since then, my son has been very comfortable living there. The place is peaceful, safe, and welcoming. I highly recommend MN8 Apartments to any parents whose children are studying in Portland.
The location is excellent—close to stores, food trucks, gas stations, public transportation, and only 20 minutes from the airport. It truly offers everything a student might need.

Dear Future mw8 residents,
I'm a former tenant who leased an apartment at MW8 for 12 months. And giving an honest account of my experiences, I can say that without a shadow of a doubt, it is not worth moving here.
Before any of this I must say, know your rights as a renter, I am still having legal issues with this complex and it has been months since I have moved out. Familiarize yourself with the laws surrounding your security deposit and monthly rent agreements (ors 90.300).
I have a lot of reasons for regretting my stay here. Firstly, the building itself is relatively sketchy, interactions with the property manager and staff seem off. Dustin especially is dodgy and dismissive of any requests for maintenance or assistance. Moving into my apartment was strange, my appliances were damaged, my fridge did not work properly, pretty much every drain in my apartment clogged every couple weeks, despite attempts to contact maintenance and ask for a fix. In addition, my washer and dryer did not work completely, sure your clothes would be "washed", but my clothes never came out dry, always had a funky smell to them, and needed to be hung up to fully dry.
In my portion of the complex, a constant stream of dust and lint came from the ventilation in the ceilings, I was constantly picking lint out of my hair and would find lint on my combs, and would find that my clothes would be covered in dust and lint within a few days after washing them. Walls in the apartment were very thin, you could hear everything happening outside, car, horns protests, construction, strangers yelling at night, or even your roommates a couple floors up or down.
On top of that, the community in general is relatively sketchy, people off the streets will randomly find their way into the apartment complex and lounge around in the lobby, or managed to find a way to explore the apartment itself. I've had multiple people enter my room randomly that I did not know or did not work at the complex.
Sure, having the pre-furnished apartment is a great concept in all, but the cherry on top is half of the furniture you receive upon moving in is damaged or tarnished in some way shape or form. The couches in my living space were falling apart and would get debris all over the floor, half of the chairs that I received were in similar condition to the couches. My mattress smelled upon moving in, it was most definitely not replaced by the management team after the last tenant had moved out.
In addition, if you plan on having a car while living at this complex, sorry to break it to you but it's completely unaffordable if you decide to live at MW8. There is no parking included, and there is no option to add parking to your rent. The only option you have is to find a garage somewhere in the vicinity, and the average rate of getting a spot in one of those garages is around $300 per month otherwise you have to pay nightly to park next to the complex, and even half the time you'll still be issued a ticket for doing so.
And even after enduring living here for a full 12 months, I received a minuscule $7 back with my security deposit after the 31 day legal period in which your landlord must return your security deposit to you. And I am still being illegally charged for wear and tear to my apartment and have found no resolution.
Moving in or moving out of this place requires a lot of homework so do your research if you want to move here at all, but all in all, I would say that it's definitely worth looking elsewhere for a living space. The conveniences of living next to psu's campus are all outweighed by the adversities you will face as a tenant.
(Edited below)
Despite trying to solve all these issues civilly, I have been going back and forth with this company for over 2 weeks. They will blatantly dodge any confrontation, I was expecting a response today in regards to the money, I am owed by this company for illegally holding my security deposit from me. I have seen no such message or resolution. This IS a reflection of the team here, save yourself the trouble.
