I have a clise friend who resides here. I spent several nights with her recently and when i turned the light on during the night there was an entire family of cockroaches climbing the walls. Yicks. Horrible. It's absolutely atrocious. Considering the fact that these dumps cater to college students, I find it appalling that they are in the condition my friends place is in. If you notice, i review frequently snd the vast majority of the time i focus on the positive attributes, however, I failed to notice any. Parking is a disaster, especially since i am disabled. Not a good choice if you are looking for a clean and inexpensive residence near the a College. Not unless you desire a foul experience. Renter Beware!!!

I lived at the Dorchester Apartments for 4 years and loved it! The apartments are spacious and it’s close to SDSU, freeways, and a bunch of places to eat. It’s a great affordable option if you need something in the college area.

As a parent of a student living at the Dorchester for over a year, we have had no issues here. Some of the apartments are older but still clean and spacious. Our apartment has lots of cupboard and storage space and a large walk-in closet. We have never seen bugs in the apartment or have had any issues with property managers like some say in past reviews. Bryce in the office has always been friendly and responsive and has taken care of any questions that have come up. The grounds are maintained and kept up, staff can been seen cleaning up the property during the week. The pool is well maintained and clean. There were homeless people going thru the dumpster at times but the Dorchester installed a locking gate to prevent any further issues. There are families and students living here and neighboring tenants are nice and keep to themselves. Ralphs is close, walking distance to campus, and laundry room on site.
Pros and Cons:
Pros: Friendly Management, spacious apartments, clean pool with bbq, nice landscaping, laundry on site, one assigned off street parking, close to SDSU, shopping and freeways.
Cons: Busy street and noise from El Cajon Blvd. parking spots are tight, older apartments are a bit dated (but still roomy), dumpsters get overfilled and messy by the end of the week, close street parking is hard to find.
The Dorchester offers a reasonable price for a safe apartment close to SDSU, we have had a good experience here. If you are considering renting here, ask for Bryce!

Worst experience ever!!! Do not move in here. Termites, no wifi, smells terrible always. I reported these problems multiple times & didint recieve help untill months after. Management is even worse. They do not care about helping you, they just want money. I would strongly recommend not moving here.

I stayed here last year because it was the cheapest apartments that was close to campus. I got used to the things I've disliked about it. My roommates decided to get an upgraded apartment. This is more like a down grade but with a higher price point. Everything is smaller. The rooms, bathrooms, less cabinet space. We were told the exterminators came through before we moved in. What did we see as we were moving in? Bugs. I thought it was just a few at first but when I was about to step in the shower two bugs came out crawling along the floor. Then we found 2 on the wall in the masters, a cockroach in kitchen cabinets, kitchen walls, the walls in the hallway. And one crawled onto my bed!!! It hasn't been a full day yet and I really want to get out.
