WMU Off-Campus Neighborhoods: 6 Kalamazoo Areas by Commute
Most WMU off-campus neighborhoods sit within about a mile and a half of campus and sort into six areas on Find My Place: South Howard Street, Knollwood and Lafayette, Kendall Avenue, Michigamme Woods, West Michigan Avenue, and a couple of complexes two-plus miles out. The cheapest beds, $350 to $390, are on Kendall Avenue and out West Michigan.

WMU off-campus housing cost is low for a school of about 20,000 students: bedrooms in by-the-bed complexes within about a mile of campus list from $350 to $550 a month on Find My Place, and a studio or one-bedroom runs about $760 to $1,020. A Valley or Henry Hall double costs $12,573 for 2026-27 with the required meal plan.
