Extremely overpriced for the lack of amenities and incompetence of management. Most of the other properties in the Ann Arbor area have vastly more to offer with spacious gyms, study spaces, and a sleek interior. On the other hand, Z West has a closet gym, no study spots, and dimly lit hallways with concrete ceilings and exposed piping that make you feel as if you're in an unfinished building. These issues are structural, and they're not going away any time soon. Furthermore, an elevator breaks down almost every other week. For a solid week or two in October, residents had to go up and down the stairs (with many living 10+ floors up) because BOTH elevators were down at the same time. This was a massive building-wide issue that I still have difficulty wrapping my head around due to its easily preventable nature. Not sure if management was conducting routine checkups on the elevators before then. Management is another issue. Having stayed at Z West for over a year, I can confidently say that the attitude that management has towards the tenants has grown more greedy and disrespectful. Utility costs have become unreasonably expensive (as if the rent weren't expensive enough), and when multiple tenants and I brought up this issue with management, we were repeatedly met with condescending explanations about how heating in an apartment complex works. Having paid utilities the year before, I can say with certainty that they increased drastically this year for no apparent reason. No clarity was provided on this issue even after weeks/months of countless tenants bringing up their frustrations/concerns. Eagerly waiting to hear what this year's reasoning for a utility cost hike will be. Highly recommend going elsewhere. You'll get more bang for your buck and overall be better off.
