I’m posting under a different name to avoid any potential retaliation from management.
I pay over $1,200 in rent, and my apartment is extremely hot. It’s so uncomfortable that there have been times I’ve had to take MULTIPLE cold showers just to cool down. You’d think “utilities included” would be a plus, but it’s not. The building controls the HVAC, not the tenant. Even when I try to turn on the air conditioner, the system is still set to heat, so there’s nothing I can do to cool my unit down.
Utilities are also not truly included. On top of rent, there’s a RUBS fee and several additional charges, including trash. The trash situation is frustrating because the dumpster is already close by, and having trash sit near the building just attracts more pests. There have been ongoing issues with roaches, which only makes that worse. It feels like extra fees are constantly being added without much benefit to residents.
During the summer, when the air conditioning is supposed to work, it is frequently out or not functioning properly. For the price being charged, this is unacceptable. Honestly, it would be worth paying a little more each month to live somewhere you can control your own utilities and not be stuck in an overheated apartment. This has been a really frustrating living experience.
