Make sure to tour before signing the lease. The rent is more expensive compared to other places that offer more space. The bathroom has no fan.

I had one of the worst living experiences of my life staying at this dorm. Within a few months of moving in, I started having constant health problems and was repeatedly going to urgent care because of symptoms that only got worse while living there. There was visible mold throughout the building, including what appeared to be black mold in multiple areas. Instead of taking residents’ concerns seriously, management dismissed them and even claimed mold test results were “fake,” which was honestly shocking and irresponsible. The maintenance and living conditions were awful overall. For the first three months, there was barely any hot water, and the water would randomly get shut off all the time with little warning. Maintenance was also incredibly unresponsive — even “urgent” maintenance requests would take at least a week before anyone showed up. On one occasion, maintenance entered our room to check the water spout while my roommate was gone, and I woke up to two men standing in my room without any warning or prior notice, which felt completely inappropriate and extremely uncomfortable. The hallways were constantly dirty with trash left everywhere, and housekeeping barely came — maybe once a month if we were lucky. A lot of the amenities and features they advertise simply were not provided or were nowhere near the quality they make them seem online. The place looks much better in marketing photos than it does in reality. They also heavily advertise the dining hall even though it is not actually part of South Gate, and the food there made a lot of people sick. Management seemed far more focused on defending themselves than actually fixing serious issues affecting residents’ health and quality of life. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere before signing a lease here. No one should have to put up with these conditions. I regret living at south gate. I had lots of friends that lived in apartments which are cheaper and had a lot better of an experience.
