I have lived here through multiple lease terms, and this has easily been the worst apartment experience I have ever had.
When I first moved in, the apartment was nowhere near move-in ready. There were multiple broken items, maintenance problems, and cleanliness issues throughout the unit. Many of the repairs I reported were either ignored or delayed for long periods of time, and I ended up fixing and cleaning many things myself because maintenance rarely showed up.
The situation became much worse during the winter storm when my apartment repeatedly flooded due to burst pipes. This went on for about a week. The flooding caused major water damage throughout the apartment and left two huge holes in my ceiling that stayed open for nearly a month before maintenance finally addressed them. During that time, wasps were coming through the ceiling into my apartment, and I was even stung inside my own home.
After the flooding, I became concerned about mold because there was still moisture trapped under the flooring and visible water damage throughout the apartment. Those concerns ended up being valid. There is visible mold growth in the unit, and I recently performed a mold test that came back positive. For months I had been constantly sick and dealing with breathing problems despite running air purifiers. Even my cat developed breathing issues while living here.
The most frustrating part is that these concerns were repeatedly brought to management’s attention over an extended period of time. Instead of properly resolving the issues, repairs were delayed, ignored, or handled far too late. Even after confirming mold concerns and documenting the water damage, management is still refusing to reasonably work with me regarding lease termination. They are denying my lease termination, my deposit from when I moved in was somehow edited out the last renewal so I can’t get that back and they want me to pay $2100 to break my lease.
I strongly recommend future tenants thoroughly inspect their unit before moving in, document every maintenance issue in writing, and keep records of all communication with management. Better yet, don’t move her, save yourself the time, money, and patience. This is just another scammy management company that wants to take all of your money any chance they get.
Edit: Added photos to show the state of the apartment on initial move in. Yes I had to clean and repair most of this because the management is nonexistent. I still won’t get my deposit back too, oh yeah cuz snuck that out of my renewal 👍 added more photos to show the effects of the water damage and what they won’t let me terminate my lease on, yes that is a mold test I did and it was positive.
