The Good:
The maintenance team and Ina, a leasing staff member, are the only ones who were consistently helpful and approachable during my time here.
The Not-So-Good:
The units are highly overpriced. If you decide to rent, make sure to tour the unit in person or get live footage, as the model home doesn’t reflect the actual unit you’ll get. I was disappointed by the “greige” color scheme, especially compared to the white model home. The unit feels outdated, and I dislike the dishwasher and laundry appliances. The oven and fridge/freezer are fine but nothing special. The hardwood floors are grey, the bedroom carpet is a brownish-grey, and even the closet has a tacky greige color. The bedroom window is very small, so I ended up sleeping in the living area to get more sunlight.
The Bad:
I missed a payment in January due to being seriously ill, and things spiraled, leading to my need to move out. I understand lease agreements, but accepting my payment would have been more accommodating and cost-effective for both them and their legal team. I informed them three times about the missed payment—twice before and after the due date—but they still charged me $2K. They changed the payment portal and partnered with BILTs, which caused my payments to fail. I tried to fix the issue but was locked out during a period when I was severely ill. Their legal team kept pushing for mediation, but I’m glad I didn’t agree, as it would have just benefited them financially.
Additional Thoughts:
The amenities might look nice, but most people won’t use them, so don’t pay for them if that’s not a priority. Make sure to check the unit before you sign the lease—look at the dishwasher, windows, paint, laundry appliances, and the closet/bedroom setup. For the price, this place is more about amenities than well-maintained units, which is typical for many “luxury” apartments. I usually don’t have time to tour places before signing, but this experience reminded me to always ensure that the “luxury” reflects the actual living conditions. I’d rate it 6.9/10 without the payment dispute, but 2.7/10 after, especially considering how they handled the situation and how I was displaced rather than being allowed to pay. California’s tenant laws are another issue entirely. Know your rights, don’t settle for unfair offers, and protect your peace.
Updated Review & Response to Managament Comment
Management responded to my review but has been unhelpful over the last three months, especially during a stressful period for me. They falsely claimed I had “no money” to pay my rent, which I’m unsure whether was due to prejudice or discrimination. When I recovered, I offered to pay 4-6 months of rent in advance with a cashier’s check, but they refused. Ina is the only leasing staff member who was professional—Leigh and Alexander were unhelpful. During the dispute, they even claimed I wasn’t disabled, despite using a crutch when my inflammation was worse or when I needed to stand or walk for extended periods. They also used my trips to Subway as “evidence” of willful neglect, which felt intrusive and misinformed. I’ve been dealing with significant life events, including losing a medical school mentor to ALS, and it’s incredibly hurtful to have faced such cold behavior during this challenging time.
Due to their response and behavior exhibited by the leasing team (not including Ina who is the sweetest person ever) I changed my review from two stars to one. They didn’t ever approach this good faith which is disappointing.
