Never heard about customer service, I have been trying to contact them for an hour straight but no answer, good luck trying to reach them.
But they are sure quick to charge high fee's and rent.
NEGATIVE FIVE STARS ♥️

TERRRRRIBLE!!!!! I am extremely disappointed with the housing services provided by SDSU. My daughter has been staying in their accommodations, and our experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. First and foremost, SDSU Housing's lack of fairness and transparency is appalling. It's nearly impossible to reach them for assistance or clarification on important matters. Secondly, the water quality in the showers has caused severe skin and scalp conditions for my daughter. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious health concerns. Additionally, the fact that residents have to pay for laundry services is outrageous, considering the already exorbitant costs of living on campus. And let's not forget the draconian policy of obligating students to live on campus for two years or face a hefty fine of $2,000. This is nothing short of extortion. Overall, I urge prospective students and parents to think twice before considering SDSU Housing. The lack of care for residents' well-being and the unfair practices make it an incredibly poor choice for accommodation.

There have been problems with availability. I heard GOV Newsom vetoed a bill that would have allowed more housing to be built on state campuses. Then, combine that with increased CA costs for off campus housing, food, everything and more kids are trying to live on campus. The ZURA dorm was. TIGHT especially for honors college kids (most colleges treat their honors college kids well and give them perks) …the water filter didn’t work and water tasted bad. We had to spend lots on bottled water. Housing never responded to my request for schedule of filter changes. Now, with choosing housing for next year it’s crazy. They allowed Groups to choose housing BEFORE the official time. Why? The best housing was full before 11 on the first day. That’s not fair. I’m sure it has something to do with SDSU getting money from these groups. If not, I would love to know how it works. I’m sure we will never hear anything. Housing needs to be more transparent on how things work there.

If possible, I would give this place a -5 stars. The blatant disregard for the living conditions of the students is truly mind-blowing. I lived in Zapotec two years ago. A shared apartment, if you could even call it that, cost me $1500 for one bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a living room setup. My roommate paid the same. While I realize this is San Diego, the fact that we were paying $3000+ a month for the bare minimum is truly astounding. Half the time, our air conditioner/heater didn't work and there was no centralized heating or AC. As such, when the weather hit 100+ degrees in 2022, my roommate and I both had to avoid being home because the heat was unbearable, even with windows open. During the winter, it was easily 10 degrees below the outside weather in each of these rooms, which was extremely unpleasant when it was 40 degrees outside. When we had a leak in one of the rooms, it was almost impossible to get anything done since the OHA didn't want to take responsibility for the fact the building was in need of renovations. Decorating was also impossible since, unlike other schools, you were not allowed to make any holes in the walls (regardless of size). On top of this, the apartment clearly had not been renovated since the 1980s. Consider this already miserable situation and add the fact that security was right outside our rooms and all night you could hear them talking and laughing because SDSU's Office of Housing Administration doesn't believe that its students are capable of being responsible. Furthering this fact, I am a graduate student and I had to tolerate the Office of Housing Administration sending in their representatives to do monthly sanitation inspections, which, if failed, would result in additional costs, regardless of whether it was a mess in my room or my roommate's, because obviously we would both go into each other's rooms and make messes. Finally, ending your contract early is the biggest challenge I have ever encountered. If you do manage to end it (as I did because I couldn't afford to make ends meet and still live there), you will still have several charges because the OHA doesn't care about anything but making money. Now, almost two years later, I had my tax refund intercepted because the OHA said I still owe them money, despite them never notifying me nor hindering my ability to apply for classes or receive my financial aid. These people are only out to make money, regardless of how it affects the people they're taking the money from. The only ones who have any idea of what is going on are the management, not the regular employees. Getting information as to my tax refund was intercepted took far longer than it should have because of the total disorganization here. It demonstrates to me that no one in management here actually has the capacity to do anything that is considered part of their job. IF YOU CAN AVOID LIVING HERE, ABSOLUTELY DO SO. THE OVERALL DESIRE TO MOOCH OFF THE STUDENTS HERE IS SECOND TO NONE.

I want to recommend SDSU, I really really do. But the on campus housing is really not acceptable. Our daughter is in her first year, is in a dorm building which has been renovated in the past few years - but all that polish is gone because environmentally it’s terrible. Nearly all rooms are triples, and so an 11’ x 15’ room with three adults is tough on its own. Then add in the fact that there are 32 girls on the floor sharing one bathroom with three showers, three toilets, and three sinks (which don’t even get hot water) - you’re waiting in line for your turn constantly. The cleaning in the bathrooms is terrible - you would need janitorial service multiple times a day in this scenario, but they are lucky if someone comes by once a day and weekends are unusual to receive cleaning. The ventilation is terrible - we have serious issues with excess moisture and mold growth in the vent system. The food situation is a disaster. She’s eaten at the cafeteria twice and been sick both times after. She can’t use the laundry facilities and the machines ruin her clothes and housing does not respond to emails about it. It’s truly disappointing, as if the university housed a more appropriate level of collegiate students in the dorms and improved their meal and service system, it would make for a markedly better living environment which would have a dramatically positive impact on her overall experience. She does love her classes and academic environment - but even with that, she’s considering a transfer next year if she has to live in the dorms again as those living conditions are not healthy.
