Living here has been a really solid experience overall. The location is super convenient for campus and day-to-day errands, and the community feels safe and comfortable. The amenities are nice and well-kept, and most residents are friendly and respectful. Maintenance requests usually get handled in a reasonable time, and the staff is generally helpful.

The elevators have some problems with registering the key fobs. Other than that the place is a very nice spot especially with the private bathrooms. Rooms are spacious and in good condition, kitchen is large with a lot of cabinet space. Sink is pretty small though.

Living here as been quite frankly a horrible experiance. The elevators are not safe. It stopped on me and the emergency button didn’t work, when I reported this to the building nothing changed because it shut down continuously after that. My fire went off just from using the oven above 300 degrees and would beep throughout the night after. The hot tub is never available because they always close it for maintenance with a sign that says do not use which makes me question how safe it is. The side entrance of the building was left unlocked for 6 months and each time I reported it to the building they gave a vague response. and I have had countless meetings with the manager to fix this, they just gave a vague response. Delay tactics have very clearly been usedby management to avoid helping with fixing the issues. Not responsive to emails or anything of that matter. I have been trying to get the property owners information since April to discuss these issues and the same aloof tactics are used to prevent me from speaking with them. I never received this before I moved out and still haven’t. The WiFi never works and they won’t help you fix it. They just send you into a cat and mouse chase with the WiFi company and it never gets fixed, You can’t turn the thermostats past 70 degrees. Dishwasher in the unit above leaked into ours. As well as our dishwasher breaking and leaking multiple times. The amenities are false advertising because the tanning bed was never open once and the game room didn’t work. Closet door comes off the track constantly. They also charge you for over 12 months but only let you live there for 11.5 and say that is for a security deposit that you never get back. This is the biggest scam to sdsu since the freshmen year mealplan. Do not sign here. It was built to fast and is unsafe. Seriously biggest waste of money. I’m so glad to be done with this place. Save your money and go anywhere else. Seriously. Update with review : I wanted to update this review after the response from the property. It is all performative, because I have reached out to the exact email they have provided multiple times and left with no response. This is exactly how topaz operates, and they are just trying to look professional online. I even emailed that email they provided in response asking for higher ups information because they were so unresponsive and was left with nothing. Once again this place is unprofessional and a waste of money. So telling me to email them is a waste of time because I have constantly been left with no response. Trust me save your time and money and live somewhere else.

I love living at topaz, the building is so nice and it is so convenient being so close to campus. The management has been so helpful with any concerns I have. The hot tub is so nice to have and would definitely recommend living here!

Living at Topaz looks cool online, but the reality is a different story. The management is unorganized, unresponsive, and seems more focused on social media clout than actually taking care of the people who live here. Maintenance requests take forever (if they even respond), the walls are super thin, and the amenities are either broken or constantly "under maintenance." The parking situation is a nightmare, and good luck getting any clear answers from the office, they dodge responsibility and communication is terrible. You can find way better places in San Diego for the same price this one just isn’t worth it.

Just a heads up, this place sucks and they’re liars. I recently entered a giveaway from one of their posts to about getting free tickets to go to the Del Mar Fair and was selected as a winner. But when I messaged them , they claimed back the tickets because I wasn’t a topaz resident even though I had toured the place and they gave me their instagram to follow. Nowhere in the original post did it say this was only for residents. I feel like that should’ve been made clear from the start! If you’re going to run a giveaway, at least be upfront about who’s eligible. Disappointed, to say the least…

I am so incredibly happy to be done with this apartment complex for my student. What an absolute nightmare! There are not a lot of clean, safe and trustworthy places to rent around the college so I could list all the issues we had and yet others will be forced to rent here regardless. Make sure your students have a good phone plan for WiFi use purposes because theirs never works, make sure your students roommates don’t skip out before checking out or you will be responsible for a construction clean up all on your own for the common areas with zero consequences to the roommates and watch your account for rent and new and fun charges they add there with zero explanation and be prepared to go back and forth many times to have it corrected. I have quite a few emails and screenshots of proof before their management attempt to discredit what I am saying. Just be prepared having your student rent here.
