Saga Ann Arbor

This apartment may look okay from the photos online, and the reviews but it has been a hell of a nightmare living here this year. The price you pay for this apartment can be put to much better use and qualify at any of the other high rise buildings in Ann Arbor. They overcharge you for cheap quality at Saga and have no problem in doing so. The first problem I have encountered is that the communal laundry is FILTHY. It is free, but I would rather pay for laundry if I at least get machines that don’t make your clothes dirtier than before you even put them in the wash. Half of the machines have laundry detergent and water pooled everywhere, or have mold growing in the area where you add your detergent/bleach. The other half of the machines are simply broken, and show an error message. I have also seen a resident leave a post-it note on a dryer that supposedly tore her clothes apart, with no sort of reimbursement given to her whatsoever. Apart from that, they charge you a flat $100 utility fee every month claiming that you can use the utilities as much as you want, when in reality it has been an 80 degree week and we were told that the AC will not be turned on for the building until this Friday. Last month we were told it would be “dewinterized” by the middle of April, or when it gets consistently hot. Because of the lack of AC, which was one of the biggest reasons we even signed here, our apartment has been at 85 degrees for the last 3 days, and will stay at this temp until they supposedly turn on the AC on the 17th. My food has gone bad due to this as the fridge isn’t cooling down enough. On top of that, the quality of several items provided to you in the Saga apartments is absolutely awful. I have small paint droplets all over the carpet in my room, had a severely chipped wall upon moving on, couch that was in even worse condition than the ones in the Markley dorm, cabinets/appliances that are chipping, scratched, and dirty, and sink faucets that have literal green stuff growing around it despite multiple maintenance requests to fix that. I would actually rather live in the dorms than live in this joke of an apartment again. Your packages get stolen all the time due to the lack of any security at all, and all Saga says is that there is nothing they can do. Also don’t even bother trying with the mobile keys they give you because they do not work 90% of the time. Once I even tried to use the Emergency Maintenance Line they had posted almost everywhere in the apartment as I was locked out of my apartment, and although I was not surprised at all, it didn’t work! I even contacted Saga about this and they said they would send out an email soon and they never did. The lack of accountability is ridiculous. Do not trust this place, it is the biggest scam ever and I hope some new high rise building comes in and destroys this rotting space. I am sure my review will be deleted as well.

If your dream is to sleep in a windowless, airless bunker with zero AC, then look no further—this is the perfect spot for you. It’s 80°outside, but the lack of ventilation in here is truly on another level. 10/10 would not recommend unless you enjoy being slow-cooked.
