My little family loves living here at the Alloy. I’ve had a great experience so far. The property is well maintained, and the grounds are kept clean and inviting. The location is really convenient, with shopping, food, and main roads all close by, which makes daily life easier. The office staff has always been friendly and professional whenever I’ve had questions, and maintenance has been responsive when I’ve needed help. Overall, it’s been a nice place to call home, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the area.
As someone who would appreciate a thorough and honest review before deciding to move in, here you go.
My wife and I lived here for nearly two years and have mixed feelings about a lot of aspects.
Management:
When we first moved in, management was atrocious, but apparently they had a overhaul with their office and truthfully it got much better. For example, guest parking used to not exist, and while it's still not always available, that was one of the very first problems they resolved as there is now at least SOME guest parking. So they are aware of issues and do try to resolve them which is good.
THEY DO NOT EVER ANSWER THEIR PHONE. Over the course of the near two years, my wife and I have tried calling the office so many times during various times of the day and they never answered even ONCE. When you email them it takes them around two business days to respond. The only way we could actually talk with them is if we went in during business hours, which is a problem considering we both worked full time and they randomly changed up their hours all the time. We would go in around 4 or so and they would already be cleared out. When we did interact with them, they were kind and helpful (minus one office employee).
Unfortunately, one of the most disappointing things was that after we moved out, they gave us an unexpected large bill for the most random crap. I have been in many other apartments in this complex which are not well kept. We kept our apartment EXTREMELY well kept, were very respectful of the complex, did not disrupt others, and the place looked great when we left. I am aware this is typical behavior from housing companies, but good luck expecting any of your deposit back.
Cost:
The first year of our lease was pretty great, roughly $1600 a month. Their renewal costs are terrible. We renewed for 8 additional months and our rent jumped up to roughly $2000 a month. I do not know how anyone could ever live month to month here because it is something like $4000 which is absurd.
The apartment itself and amenities:
We genuinely did love living here. It's pretty and new and in a good location. People are kind and we had a great ward (if that's important to you).
The basketball court was nice (except for kids playing on it past midnight), the gym was great and recently renovated, there are playgrounds, lots of grass, dog areas, and working grills.
The most unbelievable thing was the pool area. When the pool and spa are open and available, they are fantastic. However, I kid you not that they seemed to overall be closed more than they were open. Over the course of 20 months we lived there, the pool area was closed more than half of it (mind you this area is supposed to be open year round). Almost every time they sent an email out saying it was open, another was sent out that week saying it was closed again. I get the whole working on the chemical balance thing but it was ridiculous. Real bummer for my wife and I who would have used it all the time.
The worst part about it is I asked management twice if we could have amenities fee adjusted even slightly due to the pool and they straight up said no.
Another thing with the pool is if you try to go have a relaxing time there on the weekend, guaranteed there is some sort of loud party going on with a family. That's understandable and not the biggest deal, except for management once got mad at us for inviting 3 friends to the pool with us, but they never say anything to these parties that have over 20 people taking over the area, none of which live there. Again, not the biggest deal, but annoying.
One last problem is there is SO MUCH dog poop. It's actually absurd that we could never use the grass freely because there is no demand on owners picking up their dog poop. I wish management would do something about it, it's disgusting.
Maintenance:
Maintenance was amazing. They were always super helpful, quick, kind and friendly, effective, they were great.
We are glad we lived here, and it's very nice, but it has a lot of problems that seem resolvable.
