The BSC is a move you should only make if it is your last option. By nature, the BSC is unstable and losing money. I am happy to see that Giovanni Smith has recently exited the BSC. Giovanni made a clerical error which deemed my confirmed renewal spot at my co-op filled by someone else. They refused to fix this. Regardless of who is in charge, it's not going to change. I've been to board meetings, raised my voice. They will always try to pass rising costs on to you. The houses are fine, the food is good. If you choose to move to a co-op, have fun! And please divest yourself from anything BSC-related.

I am an Irish student on a work visa for the summer and have been living in the Berkeley student cooperative (Rochdale) since may this year. With the cheap rents prices I didn’t really expect much but I have been blown away by the place and the community. The complex has all the facilities you could wish for. The common garden is a lovely place to unwind and relax and the laundry room is very handy. Not only are the rent prices the cheapest around but most importantly there is a great sense of community around the place. I would recommend to anyone seeking accommodation in the Berkeley area!
