Spectra Southside (Student)

Spectra Southside has completely turned around. This is my second year living here, and let me just say the common areas feel clean. We have an actual study room now! And the pest issue is a night and day difference. The manager is a huge help with any problems and actually takes care of the problem in a timely manner. I’m extremely impressed and grateful. I plan on renewing for another year. This place is finally starting to feel like actual student housing.

I've lived at Spectra Southside for some time now and let me just say the new manager they hired has done a remarkable job turning this place around. It smells and looks clean we now have a cool study room and a clean kitchen. Also hats off to the maintenance team as well! Definitely recommend living here!

I just recently moved my daughter to Spectra Southside, and let me just say they have exceeded my expectations. On move-in day, my daughter’s room was missing a mini-fridge. The property manager went and got one himself and installed it for her. Now I’ve lived in quite a few apartments in my lifetime, but I have never seen a hands-on manager like the one I saw on move-in day. I could tell that he goes the extra mile for his tenants, so I know my daughter is in good hands. I highly recommend this place to anyone that’s looking.

Currently Owned by Asset Living which are a nightmare look them up, incapable of handling basic property management. All the good reviews are from prior owners or are fake made by Asset themselfs. Cockroach’s in the bathroom and kitchen since I moved in was there for like 10 months. It takes 40minutes to bring water to a boil on the stove and one is always broken. The lock on the only door took like 6 months to be fixed. We had a homeless man beak into the elevator and refuse to leave for hours had to call the cops. They use the only elevator to take out garbage cans which leaves garbage juice on the floor that they refuse to clean. If you are a Berkeley Student do not live here they will lie to you. I know a student that pays for a private sink and didn’t have running water for a while and was still charged for it. Personally I don’t have WiFi for a month and still was charged for it. They also fail to prorate rent which is really scummy. Said they covered early lease terminations but immediately went back on their word because nothing was written down. If you are looking for a place to stay do not pick this one. They dropped the rates due to the high turnover because you feel like moving out after about a month. Even if it is close to campus pay the extra for somewhere else for peace of mind. It is genuinely stressful living here not very helpful when juggling academic studies. So disappointed with how they do things it made me write my first review. Shout out to the one male custodian though they give him the work of like three people and he did try his best. Still he is not an exterminator which they should have hired but never did.

Terrible. Was living here for 5 months. 1 month after moving out they still haven't given back the security deposit. Cockroaches everywhere (took them several months to organize pest control). Additionally, it is dirty everywhere, no toilet paper often, as they completely underestimate the work needed to clean and only have 1 guy for a floor with like 30 people Edit since spectra southside answered and pretends I had to wait to get the deposit: I still haven't received it, despite already having sent e-mails and tried to call Another edit: noone in the office during office hours, so I reached out on instagram. It seems the e-mail address they included in this answer is not even the right one. Let's see if I get ignored again.
