I will just be blunt and say stay far away from this apartment. For the price you pay you can afford something way better, cleaner, safer and deal with a better management team. Safety is a huge concern here, I've encountered multiple homeless individuals in and on the premise of the property. During the day anyone can tailgate into the property when a resident scans through the door. The daytime guard doesn't watch who comes in and out and just sits there on his phone. The building itself is old, the carpets in the hallways are dirty and stained, the laundry rooms on each floor only have two washers and dryers and are usually dirty. As for my unit the plumbing is terrible, every sink and drain has clogged multiple times and was only ever actually fixed after filing over 5 maintenance complaints. I've also found roaches in my unit and in other parts of the building. There are two homeless encampments right in front of the building that make using 8th Ave sketchy and not worth it. There is also a lot of illegal activity in the general area, if you know anything about Westlake then you know how "active" this area is as the locals will say. There's also human and animal shit always on the sidewalk all the way down Garland Ave. Reaching management about complaints has gone on deaf ears multiple times shaving sent emails to the leasing manager and regional manager and being ignored. I can go on and on about why you shouldn't live here. If you value your time, money, and safety just stay far away from here. I'll be editing this review shortly to see how the process goes of getting my security deposit back.

Since Mary left things have gone down already. It smells like rat, guards are never at their desks, roaches at the pool area, and they tow cars right away if the guard does not see a sticker, no guest parking allowed. Fee is 392$. Just go for better quality which is available in dtla with much much better deals around.

I had had a horrible move out experience with the flat. I decided to move out because I was constantly finding huge sewer roaches coming from the drains into my bathroom and it was disgusting. my lease was supposed to end July 19, I had originally said I would come by on the last day of my lease to turn in my keys. I show up on the 17th to do some cleaning, pick up my belongings, and do some repairs to the wall (tiny holes from hanging things up) and to my surprise, my front door is dead bolted open, with tape across the doorway. I push the door open from the hallway to see the unit completely empty, freshly painted. I tried to email the sorry excuse of a manager Mary Casanova to resolve the matter and she says she needs time to figure out where my stuff went. Then she blocks my email. Only after filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau do I hear anything back from them. I threaten to sue them for removing a religious family heirloom that they have no idea what happened to it or where it is, only to have magically found it. This is ridiculous the fact that they are trying to cover up that they illegally entered my unit, while I was still legally a tenant and in good standing, without proper notice or permission. Stay far away from this apartment! I tried to give them a chance saying maybe it just looks dirty because it’s old, nope it’s just dirty, the carpets in the halls are filthy, there’s so many homeless people in the area, and two homeless encampments right next to the parking garage, don’t believe me? Drive by and see for yourself! The leasing team is impossible to reach and get a hold of, living here has been a nightmare. When I first moved in, a security guard broke into my car because “didn’t have a parking sticker” when I complained about it, they got rid of the security guard so I never thought it would be an issue again, but please my whole experience here has been awful.

I moved in about two days ago. The first night the deadbolt did not lock. After a long move I was not able to lock the door, very upsetting. Secondly I had to take a shower, however, the bath tub was clogged. When I sent an email to maintenance and the manger of the complex that night there was no response. I requested her supervisor name asap and no response. The next morning when I called the emergency line. Maintenance came right away fixed the door and clogged drain. They even explained why the plumbing sucks here.
After spending the night here I went down to dump my trash. I ran into the manager and asked if she received my email and she dismissed me and said she just arrived. I continued with my day and waited for a response and never received a response. I thought how rude. Now two days later my sink is clogging. Im going to go down and speak with the manager, personally.
However, I was surprised because the leasing agent was so courteous, patient and kind when giving me a tour of the facilities. I never would have believed the manager would be so rude and disrespectful.
Although the amenities, such as gym, pool and lounge area are nice. Respect and customer services are desired from all, but especially the Manager of facility.

Matt was extremely poised and gave a great presentation for what they had available. The 5 stars is for his candor and how well he presented the options available. This building only offers Studio apartments and all the appliances are miniature. Examples: Small shower, Only Stovetop burner, no oven. And Mini Fridge. The price is astronomical for what feels like living in a shoebox. The gym looked great but the general building was under construction and it was loud.. the views are just onto the street and parking lot where you see all the garbage piles on the street. Although Matt was really patient with the tour and offered many perks to living in downtown.. I can't say that I would consider this building an option.. unless I absolutely HAD to.
Good luck on your search!
*the first photo is staged, none of the units come furnished*
Rooftop Access is also TBD until further notice so I didn't get to see that.
