Blackstone Apartments

The building has greatly declined since I moved in in 2023. Extra fees are added to our monthly bill without informing tenants. Trash is overrun in the hallway leaving a lingering smell of trash. The building has a no smoking policy in the lease, but when tenants complain about 2nd hand smoke entering the apartments through the air vents management did little to nothing to assist. There are 2 elevators in the building and one hasn’t been operable for over a year and a half. And the working elevator hasn’t been properly inspected since 2024. Most concerning, when current management is informed of the tenants concerns for health and safety it is common for management to reply with a statement implying to just move out. Refer to the follow received from management “That said, if you believe the current conditions no longer meet your needs, management is willing to allow you to terminate your lease immediately without requiring a 30-day notice period. Please confirm in writing if you would like to proceed with early termination, and we will provide move-out instructions.”

I live in this beautiful historic property that has been completely run down by the slumlords who own and operate it. I feel bad for the front desk staff who are forced to deal with the higher ups who don't know what they are doing and don't care. Every month my rent fluctuates due to "livable" charges and inexplicable fees, they arbitrarily send tactical letters to scare tenants, so beware of that. Just an update, after I filed a complaint the landlord, Kerri retaliated by serving me a notice of a rent increase over $300/ month. Don't let the good reviews fool you- any decent review about his building is falsely made by a manager or someone that does not live in the building. From the moment you walk in, it is obvious that these people are trying to cover things up. They put a fake grass dog pee pad that attracts not only urine, but cockroaches and taco meat from the stand next door. The building is filthy, there is one working elevator that breaks down constantly, and the place is filled with dead plants and cockroaches. I had a crackhead attempt to break into my unit a month ago where I had to call 911 because of lack of security. It is such a shame that this place has potential but the owner doesn't care and neither does his corporate team.
