Some of the worst leasing management I’ve ever experienced. Wasted my time for an entire week without giving me the visibility about the apartment’s availability.
Looks like a new management has taken over and they seem promising so far. Hopefully it’s the case.
UPDATE:
The new Essex management has been great! Far more responsive than the previous management.
They helped me with my lease and move in.
A special shoutout to Francisco Carrera -Maintenance Manager and Rocio -General Manager for making my move-in experience a pleasant one.

The building is well maintained and any issues are handled quickly and professionally. I especially want to recognize Rocio and Stephen for being absolutely amazing. They are responsive, helpful, and always go above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of. Their positive attitudes and dedication really make a difference. I truly appreciate all their hard work!

Property Management has changed 2x since I moved in, most recently its now with Essex. HORRIBLE! they got here 2/4/26 and i already dont like how they are. I dont mind change but if you try to change something tell me why and then do right by the current renter don't just take away something that they paid for and say come visit us later to figure it out.
If you are okay with not having a balcony go to the sister property at 1010 and see Melvin. This was the worst decision ever by the owner to split the two properties up.

I was a resident here for 3 months and in consideration of my experience, I would happily move back to this building if I were to return to LA. The amenities are plentiful, convenient, and well maintained. I’ve witnessed the maintenance team cleaning different areas of the building day & night, and on weekends as well. The maintenance team was very responsive to any and all requests/ concerns. Same as anywhere else, there are some flaws. In my opinion, security could be a little more restrictive for the protection of the residents, and I frequently ran into issues with my key card, however the well appointed apartments and the extremely convenient location outweigh the faults. There’s easy access by foot to so many different things in DTLA, and you could do without a car if need be. However, I really appreciated that a designated parking space was included in the rent. The units themselves are equipped very practically, so that anyone who is only traveling temporarily can rest assured only packing the bare minimum. Overall, my experience at 1010 Downtown was a good one.
