Sutton has been a great place for us. No building is perfect, and Sutton has its share of issues, but the positives clearly outweigh the negatives. Management: The front desk team, and Nikki and Diani, are fantastic. The level of personal attention they provide is rare for an apartment complex. It doesn’t feel transactional. They genuinely care, and it shows. Community: Most residents here are friendly and actually interested in building a real community. Big credit to Diani for putting in serious effort to organize high quality events that bring people together. Valet: Parking has its challenges, mostly because of how the building was designed. Realistically, it can’t function without valet and probably should have had several dedicated parking floors. That said, the new valet team has been doing a solid job. Utility bills: They do run higher than what we’ve paid in other buildings. That’s definitely a downside, but for us, it’s manageable given everything else we get. Gym: With Joshua leading gym classes, this is easily one of the most unique apartment gym setups in Portland. Having that kind of instructor included for residents is a real luxury, and he’s an excellent instructor. Maintenance: The Sutton maintenance team has been very proactive. Most of the requests we submitted were resolved within 6 to 12 hours. A few other things we really appreciate here: packages are delivered straight to the apartment in a day or two, the front desk stays open late which makes it easy to let guests in, the common areas are genuinely beautiful, and the free coffee plus weekly happy hours are great touches that make the place feel welcoming. Overall, our experience at Sutton has been positive. When we compare Sutton to other Portland downtown apartments, Sutton delivers one of the best luxury living experiences at a price that still feels reasonable.
