University of Arkansas off-campus bus routes reach the seven Fayetteville complexes on this list, and three of them have a Razorback Transit stop named after the building itself: The Locale (Routes 21 and 33), The Marshall (Route 48) and University House (Routes 44, 45 and 46). Razorback Transit is fare free and open to anyone. The catch is the calendar, since buses run reduced hours in summer and don't run on Sundays.

Key Takeaways

  • Three complexes have a bus stop with their own name on it: The Locale, The Marshall and University House.
  • Cheapest bus-line bed on this list? Champions Club, at $649 in a 4-bedroom, about a block from the 15th/Razorback stop on Route 48.
  • No fare, and you don't have to be a student: Razorback Transit says federal law lets everyone ride.
  • Weekday full service runs 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the academic year; Sundays get nothing (plan your grocery run for Saturday).
  • Living past I-49 or near the NWA Mall? Routes 26 and 27 reach you, but treat that as car-light, not car-free.

How Razorback Transit Works for Off-Campus Students

Razorback Transit is the University of Arkansas bus system, and almost every route ends at Union Station, the main transfer point on campus. You don't pay anything to board. The system's Razorback Transit FAQ calls it "fare free" and notes that federal law lets everyone ride.

Hours are the part people miss. Route timetables say full service runs Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., during the U of A academic year. Non-peak service, which covers summer and holidays, runs 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. There's no Sunday service.

Breaks matter too. As of October 2026, the operating calendar Razorback Transit links to is still the 2024-25 edition, and that year buses didn't run over Thanksgiving break or from December 24 to January 4. Expect a similar gap this winter, and confirm the dates in Passio GO.

We matched routes to apartments using stop lists in the Transit app (checked October 23, 2026) and listings on the off campus housing near UArk page. Every property below names the University of Arkansas in its commute widget. Prices are the "lists from" numbers on each FMP page.

1. The Locale: Two Routes Stop at "The Locale/Harps"

The Locale is the strongest car-free pick near UArk, because two separate routes stop at a sign with its name on it. Route 21 runs from Fair Park down Garland to campus, and Route 33 comes in from Porter Road and Deane Street. Both stop at The Locale/Harps, then the Health Center, then Union Station.

The Locale sits at 1223 N Haven Dr, 0.6 miles from campus, and lists from $625. Rooms in its 4-bedroom units cost less than rooms in its 2-bedrooms ($899 and up), so that $625 is a by-the-bedroom price. The Harps grocery at the same stop is a quiet bonus. Groceries without a car, sorted.

2. The Marshall: Route 48 Has a Stop Called "The Marshall"

If you want Razorback Road living with a bus at the door, The Marshall is it. Route 48 stops at "The Marshall" inbound, then swings past Lot 320 West and the Health Center on the way to Union Station. The whole run from Lot 500 to Union Station takes about 15 minutes.

The Marshall is at 777 S Razorback Rd, 1.0 mile from campus, and lists from $580. Its 18 floor plans mix shared rooms, private rooms and whole units without a clean pattern. So ask the leasing office what that $580 actually covers. (It's a shared room on the FMP page.)

One perk: the Route 48 timetable runs from about 7:15 a.m. until 10:40 p.m. on weekdays, later than several other lines.

3. University House: Three Routes, One Stop

University House gets more bus routes than anything else on this list. During weekday daytime hours, Route 45 (from the MLK Walmart) and Route 46 (from Southern View) both stop at "University House." After 7 p.m., Route 44 takes over the full loop, covering MLK, Southern View, Markham Hill and University House.

Route 46 leaves Union Station at :15 and :45 past the hour, and the round trip takes about 25 minutes. Easy to memorize.

University House is at 1801 W Diamond Dr, 1.2 miles from campus. A bed in a 4-bedroom lists from $699, while a studio or one-bedroom runs $1,099 to $1,299. Rent falls as the unit gets bigger, so the $699 is per bedroom.

4. Champions Club: The Cheapest Bed on a Bus Line

Champions Club is the budget pick. It's about a block south of the 15th/Razorback stop, where Route 48 picks up on its way past Baum Stadium and The Marshall into campus.

Champions Club sits at 1629 S Razorback Rd, and its FMP commute widget puts it 1.6 miles from the U of A. A room in a 4-bedroom lists from $649, a 3-bedroom from $799 and a 2-bedroom from $945. That's a per-bedroom price, and the $296 gap between the 4- and 2-bedroom is real money over a 12-month lease.

Fair warning: baseball weekends get busy down here, since Baum-Walker Stadium is just up Razorback Road.

5. Axis on Futrall: Route 35 Along Wedington

Axis on Futrall works if you want the west side and can live with a less frequent bus. It's a short walk from the Wedington/Futrall stop on Route 35, which runs from The Links stop in west Fayetteville down Wedington Drive to the Health Center and Union Station.

Route 35 isn't a 10-minute line, though. When we checked the Transit app on Friday, October 23, 2026, it showed Route 35 buses every 40 minutes. Check Passio GO before you count on it for an 8 a.m. exam.

Axis on Futrall is at 550 N Futrall Dr, 1.4 miles from campus, near the I-49 interchange. Private rooms in 4-bedroom units list from $850; a one-bedroom starts at $1,525.

6. Yugo Fayetteville Dickson: Walk First, Route 17 as Backup

Yugo Fayetteville Dickson is the pick for students who would rather walk than wait. At 0.9 miles from campus, walking is the default here. On rainy days, Route 17 loops through the Dickson Street area, with stops at Dickson/School, Walton Arts Center/West Ave and Dickson/West before it heads to Bell Engineering and Gibson Hall.

Yugo Fayetteville Dickson is at 333 N Saint Charles Ave. A private bedroom in a 4-bedroom lists from $779, and a 2-bedroom private room from $960. You're a block from Dickson's restaurants and bars, which is either the selling point or the problem.

7. Reserve at Steele Crossing: Car-Light, Not Car-Free

Reserve at Steele Crossing only makes this list with an asterisk. It's 4.2 miles from campus in north Fayetteville, near the Northwest Arkansas Mall. Two routes reach that area: Route 26, which starts at the NWA Mall and comes down Leverett Avenue, and Route 27, which runs the length of College Avenue.

The university's Route 27 announcement says the College Avenue line runs every 30 minutes, and the trip from downtown to the mall takes 20 to 25 minutes. Route 26 stops at Van Asche/Steele on its way south. Walk the distance from your door to the stop before you sign.

Reserve at Steele Crossing lists one-bedrooms from $1,220 and 2-bedrooms from $1,345. Those are whole-unit prices (rent climbs with each bedroom). It's a real apartment, not a student complex.

The FMP Last-Bus Rule

Before you sign anywhere, find the last bus home from Union Station on a weeknight and on a Saturday. We call it the FMP Last-Bus Rule. If that bus leaves before your latest class, lab or shift ends, you aren't car-free. You're just hoping.

Frequently Asked Questions About University of Arkansas Off-Campus Bus Routes

Is Razorback Transit free for off-campus students?

Yes. Nobody pays a fare, students or not. Razorback Transit is federally funded, and its FAQ says everyone is allowed to ride. Just get on.

Does Razorback Transit run on weekends?

Saturdays, yes, on a lighter schedule. Sundays, no. Route timetables list no service on Sundays, university holidays or days the university is closed, so stock up on Saturday if you live on a bus line.

Which apartments near UArk have a bus stop right outside?

Three. The Locale (Routes 21 and 33), The Marshall (Route 48) and University House (Routes 44, 45 and 46) each have a stop named after the complex. Champions Club and Axis on Futrall are a short walk from one.

Can I live in north Fayetteville without a car?

Probably not comfortably. Routes 26 and 27 reach the NWA Mall area, but you're 4+ miles out, and on the last posted calendar (2024-25) buses didn't run over Thanksgiving or most of winter break. Plan on a car and use the bus as a backup.
