The living areas are nice but everything else is wanting. The apartments are pretty nice with in-unit laundry and updated appliances and flooring but when we were looking at the place we were told there was air conditioning which was a lie. There is a shared grill on the roof but you better bring your grill brush because it is always dirty, and the exhaust fans for the grill have knobs that have been broken for the entire time I have lived here, not to mention the flickery grill lights. While on the topic of the amenities the rooftop fireplace has been broken for months and they have furniture, but removed all the cushions that had been there last summer. The Gym is a joke and there are no free weights or barbells and if you're tall you'd better watch your head on one of the treadmills as it is positioned under a light that you would hit your head on. As far as maintenance issues go, there was an ongoing issue with the hot water for a few months but any maintenance that I have requested has been generally taken care of with the exception of our shower fan which started rattling but they said nothing was wrong that they could find. Other issues to note are the package and car thefts, there have been multiple issues with missing packages and I have heard of and seen some cars that had been broken into. You also live next door to a halfway house, so there are a bunch of homeless people which generally don't cause too many issues with an exception maybe once a year but we feel pretty safe around them and you do have to scan your door key in the elevator to get upstairs. They do have a rent-a-cop but I rarely see them on property. As far as a place to live, there have been fire alarms set off by people smoking in their rooms and I have seen people cook fish in the hallways to avoid stinking up their own apartment. The worst thing about Rivet is the lack of communication. We have had an issue with our renters insurance that was not mentioned until three months living here when they started to charge us for not having the record, we got it sorted out but then had the same issue a year later. The one nice thing is that they are willing to negotiate on rent, after living here for a year we didn't feel like moving and they were going to raise our rent, we politely asked for the free parking promo that we initially had, to be extended for a year and asked if they could reduce the rent increase. They gave us the new move-in offer for a second year which was nice and the apartment was worth the deal made but no more. In all, we will not be renewing for another year as they increased our rent again and it is not worth paying the same amount that you would pay for a much nicer apartment with fewer issues.
