About Student Housing in Orem
Orem sits directly north of Provo on I-15 and shares much of its student housing character — UVU's main campus is here, and BYU is close enough that many students opt for slightly lower rents on the Orem side. The rental market runs parallel to Provo's: prices have climbed, inventory near campus is competitive, and the academic calendar drives turnover. The difference is that Orem does not have BYU's contracted housing system, which gives renters more flexibility on lease terms. The main student zones are near UVU along University Parkway and further south toward the Provo border where BYU students spill over.
Best Neighborhoods for Students in Orem
Near UVU (University Parkway Corridor)
The core student zone — walkable to UVU's campus, dense with purpose-built complexes and older apartment buildings. A mix of budget and mid-range options. Fills early each spring.
South Orem (Near the Provo Border)
Popular with BYU students who want more space or lower rents than North Provo offers. Close enough to Provo that the commute to BYU is manageable, especially with a car.
