University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Housing Requirements
Freshman Live-On Requirement
UT Southwestern does not enroll undergraduates and therefore has no freshman live-on requirement. All students are graduate or professional learners who arrange their own housing in the Dallas area.
Off-Campus Eligibility
All UT Southwestern students live off campus, as the institution does not operate traditional residential housing for its graduate and professional population. Students typically choose apartments near the Medical District, Uptown, Oak Lawn, or Love Field for convenient access to hospital rotations and research facilities.
Lease Timing
Most UT Southwestern students begin their programs in late July or early August, making spring the ideal time to secure housing. Students entering multi-year MD or PhD programs often sign 12-month leases that can be renewed annually throughout their training.
